BEST GOLF VALUE IN THE OGDEN & LAYTON AREAS
Make a tee time and play any time on your designated days of the week. Each week we play a nine hole stroke play tournament, or other game. (See yearly calendar.)
In addition to an annual membership dues, game fees are required every time you play an event. (Green fees and cart rental sold separately.) The games fees are used to pay out winnings. 100% of game fees are paid each week.
Only one membership is required to play in Men, Women’s, Sr. Men’s or Couples.
Our Associations are divided by Tees that are played. Sr. Men play from White tees . Men’s Association plays from Blue tees, Women play from Gold tees, Couples play from women’s Gold tees and men’s White tees. Within the divisions group players by flight as determined by their handicap. One to four flights per division is typical. These flights helps spread out winnings and deliver fair results week to week for golfers of all abilities.
Winnings are awarded to the top placeholders in each handicap flight according to the bylaws. Scores are calculated using in-house handicaps only. Some special events that do not produce net results are calculated accordingly. Prize winnings will be credited within 7 days to your individual shop credit account. Winnings are golf shop credits which may be redeemed at Remuda or Crane Field for golf, equipment, and food. Results are posted on our news blog each week. 100% of game fees are paid out each week!
A yearly membership fee is required to play. (There is no extra membership if you decide to play in another division, such as Men's and Couples.) In addition to green fees, a weekly game fee may also be required depending on the association. You are under no obligation to play every week. However, the more people who play, the higher the winnings and the more fun it is!
You will accumulate points throughout the season for playing in Association sponsored events. Automatic participation points are awarded to all who play each week, more points depending where you place and how many association events you play in. Some events require players to have a minimum amount of points to play. (Meaning you have to use some points to buy in, and you can’t join the Association just in time to enter the tournament.) Points are also used to buy raffle tickets and prizes at the end of the season. Points are a fun way to reward player loyalty!
Once you establish a handicap you will be scored and flighted according to that index number. Members with UGA handicaps may use their index to immediately establish a house handicap, but you do not have to be a UGA membership to play. If you do not have a UGA membership you simply need to play four nine hole rounds to establish an in-house index. Not difficult at all, and we do all the work entering your scores each week to keep your handicap accurate.
Play starts in March and April each year (weather permitting) and continues weekly throughout the season. Each association has their own various weekly events on assigned days. There are various events to keep things interesting. Rules are always posted at the front desk for these events. The highly organized events are governed by association bylaws decided by the members. You will always need to turn in a scorecard no matter what the event, signed and attested by another member of the association.
Check scores with your smart phone in many ways. First, you can visit RemudaGolf.com. Second, you can download or native phone app. Third, you can join our Facebook page.
Q. Do you use 9 or 18-hole handicaps in your Association?
A. As most of our association events are 9-hole events, our handicaps are kept as 9-hole handicaps. When we have 18-hole events, we double the handicaps.
Q. Why did I not win any money even though I shot below my average score?A. As with any competition, there is an element of luck dependent on the performance of other players, size of flights, course conditions, flag placement and weather are all factors that affect scores universally. These factors often result in some weeks winnings being lower than other weeks.
Q. Why have I suddenly changed flights without my handicap changing?
A. Flights are automatically generated by the computer system every week. Flight 1 contains the lowest handicaps, Flight 2 contains the next lowest, and so forth. As the individuals who play vary from week to week, this can result in a player being occasionally assigned to a flight they are not accustomed to playing.
Q. How do the Tees I play affect my handicap?
A. The slopes for each Tee are used in the handicap calculation. Additionally, those who play from forward tees will consistently shoot lower scores on average, thus resulting in a lower handicap. As an example, Player 1 always plays from the white Tees, averaging a gross score of 50. Player 2 always plays from the red Tees, averaging a gross score of 45. As such, Player 2 will have a handicap roughly 5 lower than player 1.
Q. Why did my handicap go down even though I shot above my average score?
A. Handicap calculations are based upon the 10 most recent scores (minus the score that is still in process of being scored.) Every time a new score is entered the oldest score is dropped. Sometimes this results in handicap movement in the opposite direction of what is expected based only on the most recent score. Handicap calculation also drops high and low scores which helps prevent sandbagging.
Q. Does my handicap index reset at the beginning of each season?
A. No, we start with your previous year handicap. You do not start at zero unless you are a brand new player without any benchmark handicap index such as a UGA index or a handicap from another association.
Q. What tees do Association Members play?
A. Men play Blue Tees each weekly event unless modified by a specific game. Sr. Men play White Tees each week unless modified by a specific game. Super Seniors over age 75 may play from whatever tee they choose. Women play gold tees each week unless modified by a specific game. Couples Play white tees (women may choose to play gold tees.)
Q. Is there a schedule of events available?
A. Yes, the presidents sets up a schedule of events and posts it at the clubhouse, online, and makes copies for members to take home. So it’s important to read the calendar carefully. Link to Event Calendar
A. Yes, In addition to weekly game fess, green fees are also be required to play on the course. Most members buy discounted punch passes when they know they will play 20 or more events.
Q. If I miss a social event or member appreciation giveaway, can I get reimbursed?
A. Unfortunately, due to the nature of most of these events, they are “use it or lose it” bonuses for members. We realize it is impossible for everyone’s schedule to attend each and every event, but we try to do several events to make up for this.
Q. Do I need to have a team member?
A. No because most events are individually scored. (Excluding couples division.) We do occasionally have scrambles where two members from the association team up. We can help you find a partner if you don’t have one. A lot of members do sign up with friends so they can golf together. You must play your weekly games with at least on other registered member. Your scorecard must be attested by another member of the association to count.
Q. Is there a Junior league at Remuda?
A. Not at this time. There is no weekly competitive league similar to the men’s. However, we do host a summer learning academy for juniors that includes weekly classes and a closing tournament.
